Agnes Earl Cuffey of New Rochelle, New York was born on March 24, 1933 in Charleston, SC and earned her heavenly wings on November 29, 2021.
Our matriarch began her spiritual and musical journey as a child and enjoyed entertaining friends and family by singing songs, painting, drawing pictures, playing the piano, and telling stories of her youth. After graduating from high school and nursing school in Charleston, she moved to New York and worked as a registered nurse at St. Barnabas Hospital, Bronx, NY, in the early 1960s. In her later years, she traveled from home-to-home caring for the elderly.
Miss Agnes, as she often liked to be called, was the beloved mother of seven children, four daughters and three sons. However, she was known as "Nana" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin, sister, wife, and friend that had a radiant smile that would make the sun blush and was not afraid to express her love of God. She studied and practiced many religions. But her Native American "Cherokee" heritage played a pivotal role in who she was spiritually. She ensured ALL her children new, respected, and loved God. Agnes is survived by her three daughters, three sons and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Our beloved mother will be missed, but will never be forgotten. We love you Mama, sleep well in your new heavenly abode.
