Charles H. Thacker Dies in Salt Lake

Charles H. Thacker died in Salt Lake. Funeral services for Charles Heber Thacker, 36, World War II veteran who died in a Salt Lake hospital Saturday at 2:00 a.m. of a long illness were conducted Tuesday in Heber Third Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by Francis C. Cowley, bishop.

Burial was in the Heber Cemetery, where military honors were under the direction of Wasatch Post 8885, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Thacker was born July 4, 1914 at Charleston, Wasatch County, a son of Alice Jane Wagstaff and Charles David Thacker. He was reared in Charleston and received his education there and in Heber. He was a graduate of Wasatch High School and the LDS Stake Seminary.

He served 10 months in the army during World War II. During his training he suffered an accident from which he never recovered. For many years he was confined to veteran hospitals in California, Idaho and Salt Lake City.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held the office of elder at the time of his death.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie Thacker, Lehi, his parents of Heber, and 11 brothers and sisters, Mrs. C. J. (LaPrele) Stoker, Clearfield; Mrs. E.M. (Ida) Carter, Mrs. William (Mae) Wright, and Floyd V. Thacker, Provo; Mrs. Ray (Lela) Morgan and Mrs. Wesley (VanNess) Stott, Beaver; Mrs. Floyd (Lois) Bonner, Midway; Mrs. Dave (Leulia) Hellewell, Ogden; Mrs. Calvin (Carma) Crook, Lowell D. and Lyle V. Thacker, Heber.

Services were as follows: prayer at home, Clarence Stoker; prelude and postlude, Venola Cowley;quartette, karl Probst, Roy Huffaker, Reed Kohler and Clyde Pyper, "Oh, My Father;" prayer, A.C. Moulton; speaker, T.C. Hebertson of Vineyard; vocal solo, Clyde Pyper, accompanied by Jennie Johnson, "My Faith In Thee;" speaker, Wayne C. Whiting; violin solo, Maurine Thomas, accompanied by LaVada Harrison, "One Fleeting Hour;" speaker, Clyde Titchie; vocal duet, Virginia Thacker and Mima Rasband, accompanied by Ethel Watson, "In The Garden;" prayer, Irwin Hicken; graveside prayer, Floyd Bonner.

HEBER--Funeral services for Charles Heber Thacker, 36, World War II veteran, who died in a Salt Lake Hospital Saturday at 2 a.m. of a long illness, will be conducted Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. in Heber Third Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by Francis Cowley, bishop.

Friends may call at the family residence, 445 S. 1st East, Heber, Monday evening and Tuesday until time for the services. Burial will be in the Heber Cemetery, where military honors will be under direction of Wasatch County veteran organizations.
