PATRICIA PIEPER-WATSON

On December 2, 2007 a great lady left our midst. Patricia lived life to the fullest, and gave artistic beauty to the world. Born to a prominent 20th century family, Patricia was the only child of Frank and Barbara Farabaugh of Patterson, NJ. She was a direct descendent of steel titan Charles Schwab and of Dr. Lawrence Flick, an early pioneer in the treatment of tuberculosis. Her early childhood was spent in Asbury Park, NJ and at private schools in that state and in New York. She graduated high school in Asbury Park and later majored in art, at Utah State University where she was President of the Art Club and Chief Editor of the yearbook. In 1941, she met and later married George F. Pieper, then an aspiring aviation cadet in the US Army Air Force. Colonel Pieper and Pat spent the next 22 years at various Air Force bases throughout the United States, including 3 years in Alaska.

Colonel Pieper passed away in 1981.

In the years following his passing, Pat became a well-known civic activist in the Pasco County (FL) area, and continued for many years. Pat was a nationally known artist and professional photographer, with many exhibitions and awards in both mediums. Her art studies included Deal Conservatory in New Jersey, and several years with Baron Von Palm of Paris. Her studies at Utah State University were awarded with invitations to exibit at Western U.S. art museums.

Shortly after moving to Florida she became interested in water conservation and associated issues resulting in an appointment as Board Member of the Southwest Florida Water Management District by then Governor Bob Graham. In the same year, she was elected President of the Florida Bell Lake Association. Her membership included many Veteran's organizations, numerous animal rights groups and The Sierra Club.

As an annual contributor to the Vero Beach Humane Society's "Cause For Pause" auction her artwork always met with great success. Her awards included (but not limited to) "Woman of the Year" (Tampa Area) the prestigious William B. Moorer Award for outstanding service and numerous national and statewide photographic awards for excellence.

In 1989 she married Russell W. Watson a retired U.S. Coast Guard officer, who survives. She also leaves a daughter, Patricia L. Wendt (husband Scott Wendt) four grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.

As stated in "Who's Who In America" her philosophy was simple: "AS AN ARTIST AND PHOTOGRAPHER, I AM TRULY BLESSED"

Buried on December 5, 2007
