Tennyson A. Gamble, 73 years of age, who came to Itasca 31 years ago died at Itasca Hospital in Grand Rapids last Friday after a lingering illness, a victim of cancer. Mr. Gamble was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 7, 1863. He came to Minnesota forty years ago. In 1890 at LaCrosse, Wisconsin he was married to Miss Fleeda Andrews who passed away six years ago. To them were born nine children, eight of whom survive. A son Ronald died about a year ago. Mr. Gamble homesteaded in Sand Lake Township in 1905 and was one of the first settlers in that region. He was active in township affairs and his judgment was highly respected. A friendly man himself, he made many friends. Surviving are five sons and three daughters. These are Hubert, Glen and Eugene of Spokane, Washington; Mrs. John Douglas of Nickerson, Minnesota; Wilbur Gamble of Clearbrook, Minnesota; Percy Gamble, Mrs. Charles Jones, Mrs. John Doty, all of Deer River. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Lou McMullen of Los Angeles, California and 36 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church at 2 o`clock Tuesday afternoon and were in charge of Rev. D. S. McGuire and Rev. J. W. Schenk. Interment was made in Olivet Cemetery, Deer River.
