William Richard was the son of Thomas Harvey Morris and Matilda Murray Hughes. He was born and raised in the Glensted, Missouri area. He fell in love with a neighbor girl Bonnie Sparks and they were married Dec 28, 1914 at Sedalia, Mo. They were the parents of 11 children. He played baseball as a young man and once tried out for the old St.Louis Browns. He was a salesman most of his life. He caught TB and died at 53 years old.

When I was about 4 years old I remember one day Grandpa Dick took Reggie my cousin and I out to the front yard and showed us where he planted a little tree. He told us he planted the tree for us and it would always be there. He said, "When you look at this tree, remember your grandpa.". I don't need to see that tree to remember.
