Robert was born to Darrell Keith Barrett and Betty Lou Miller and raised by grandparents Suzie and Bert Miller in the Rexburg area. He also lived in Alaska, Virginia, Texas, Washington, and Utah. He joined the Army during Vietnam and worked as an Army crane operator for 22 years. On August 17, 1968 he and Lois Helen Ryle were married in Blackfoot. He also worked for BLM for 15 years and had owned RB's Boat Shop for nine years. He was a member of the Lions Club and VFW and enjoyed building cars, fishing, and hunting. Survivors beside his wife included: children Bert, Zachary and David Barrett and April Summers; sisters Tonna, Dorinda, Teri and Becky; and six grandchildren. Memorial service was held Friday, October 22nd at Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot.
