Son of Orland L. and Mary Alice (Sproule) Anspach. Brother of Malcolm Sproule. Father of Gary and Alan Anspach. Married Frances Gilbert 1946, Clark Co., NV. They divorced in November 1970, Los Angeles, CA. Married Frances A. Hansen November 1, 1974, San Diego, CA, possibly the same person.

He entered service March 3, 1941 in Pasadena, CA. Rodney was a B-24 pilot in WWII and served with the 15th Army Air Force, 460th Bomb Group, 761st Bomb Squad in Spinazzola, Italy. His bomber (no. 44-48862) was shot down March 1, 1945 on a mission to bomb a target at Moosbierbaum, Austria. He was captured and became a prisoner of war. His obituary mentions he was awarded the Silver Star. The March 1, 1945 mission crew would not have been his original crew. There were three qualified Navigators on board because the aircraft was equipped with an early ground scanning radar apparatus and known as a Pathfinder or PFF.
