Jacqueline Lou Darnell-Coots

The world lost a beloved mother and wife on December 6th. Jackie passed peacefully with her loving daughter and cherished husband by her side. Jacqueline Lou Black was born to James and Detta (Betty) Black on September 21, 1964, in Peru, Indiana. She married Phillip Coots on July 9, 2016.

She was the loving mother of Emilly Darnell (Steven), Casey Darnell, and stepdaughter Ashley (Ryan) Small. Cherished and devoted Mimi to Chloey, Daunte, Aja, Isaac, Wyatt, Sophie, Violet, Crosby, Marley, Angel, Kiley, Liam, and Lucas. All of these she loved and touched deeply. Dear sister of Beverly Starbuck (Dane), Mona Donat (Gregg), Vickie Datzman, Cindy Wilson (Allie-Ray), and Tamara Wooten (Steve). Her dearest friends Audrey Stapleton, Vicky Mcfatridge, Darlene Phalen, Donna DeKemper, and Jeff Abell.

She was a Peru High School graduate class of 1983. She attended Indiana Wesleyan University where she graduated Magna Cum-Laude with a BS in Nursing. Her nursing career spanned a couple decades at Dukes Memorial, Howard Community, and Miami Correctional Facility. Jackie was often praised by patients and their families for her compassionate and expert care.

She was a dedicated Mother first and foremost and simply adored being a wife to Phil. She treasured her husband, children and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. She and Phil enjoyed watching movies, long country rides together, camping, and fishing. She loved to garden. She was very talented and loved to scrapbook and make crafts.

Her life was a living example of one of her favorite bible verses, Ephesians: 4:32- "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgive one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ." She lived in her faith, was devoted and strived to be a better person and live by God's example.

She was preceded in death by her father James Black, her Mother Detta (Betty) Black and a sweet little Grandson Max Cavazos.

Please join us in celebrating Jackie's life on Friday December 10, 2021, from 4:00-8:00 pm at First Assembly of God Church, 365 Monroe Avenue, Peru, Indiana.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.
