Thomas was a widower and retired farmer. His parents were Jacob Adams (1800-1874) and Hannah [Bartlett] Adams (1802-1883). Jacob and Hannah Adams were both born in Virginia. They were married December 4, 1817 in Newbury Essex, Massachusetts after which they moved to Ohio then Pennsylvania. Jacob and Hannah died in Crawford County, Pennsylvania. Their son, Thomas died from an accidental fall at his residence in Salem, Ohio causing multiple leg fractures resulting in his death February 20, 1917.
