Clarence Ludlow Brownell's Death Hastened By Hurricane
Clarence Ludlow Brownell, 63, author and educator, died at a local hospital today, following several years' illness. He had been a patient at the hospital for several weeks.
A graduate of Harvard, Mr. Brownell spent some years in Japan writing a number of books relative to the Orient as well as being a contributor to American and English newspapers and periodicals. Later he was located in London and became a fellow in the Royal Geographic Society.
Returning to America he was for a time connected with Valparaiso, Indiana University, and later made a student of educational systems, particularly in Gary, Indiana.

He married Zoe Noema (Pinkerton) Myers on 27 Sep 1911 in Valparaiso, IN.
He had been a sufferer from diabetes since 1922, coming to Florida in 1925. His health improved slightly and he resumed his study and writing. He suffered from exposure in the Miami hurricane and became steadily worse.
Funeral services are to be held here tomorrow and the body will later be sent to Hartford, Conn., the place of his birth, for interment.
