George Carroll Ingram was a man of great character and strength, who was true to his convictions, and whose family was most important to him in life. George was born in Wyandotte, MI to George Carroll Ingram Sr. and Dorothy E. (Schafer) Ingram. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1958 and from Michigan State University in 1962. He then married the love of his life in the fall of that year.

George was an entrepreneur and had different occupations during his life. He sold insurance for many years through is own insurance agency, was an auctioneer for a time and found what he really loved in raising and racing Standardbred horses. While he loved all his horses, I would say his favorite was a mare called Shiaway Haze who was labeled as a horse that was untrainable and uncontrollable when he purchased her and he was told she could never be raced. Under his care she became an Invitational Trotter and raced until her mandatory retirement age of 14. She once stopped immediately in a race when she realized George was in trouble on the sulky behind her when the wheel broke. She protected him and he her. She suddenly passed away the following winter at the age of 20 I believe to be with her trainer. She had a special bond with him that no one else could replace for her.

George left behind at the time of his passing a loving wife, three daughters and three grand daughters. His big boisterous laugh, quick wit, humor and loving ways are missed every second of every minute of every day.
