A longtime resident of Newark, she was a founding member of the Newark Bridge Club, a life member of Head of Christiana Presbyterian Church and an avid and talented gardener.
Gean was survived by her second husband, Paul Edwin Barnard of Newark, DE.
Gean was also survived by her son Philip Stewart Hopkins; a brother, E.I. Edwards; 4 sisters, Nellie Rose Edwards Daly of Wilmington, DE; Sylvia Mae Edwards Clancy of Wilmington, DE; Elva Alice Edwards Fagan of Milford, DE.; and Wilma Edwards Franklin of Newark, DE.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Gean was pre-deceased by her first husband, Charles Stump (Biff) Hopkins.
She was also pre-deceased by her brother, R.T. Edwards; and her sister, B.M. Edwards Brown.
A funeral service was held at 1 pm, on November 29th, at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, Newark, DE. with Rev, John Ames officiating.
