Dave Prater Sr and Mary Pressley Prater. She was the 7th of 11 children. She was educated in the Irwin County School System and was a Class of 1955 graduate of Ocilla High and Industrial School in Ocilla, Georgia. She moved to Miami, Florida in 1955 and later became a Licensed Practical Nurse -- caring for premature babies in the pediatric intensive care unit at Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital. She retired in 1996 after 37 years in nursing. She was a member of Mt. Olive AME Church in Ocilla, Georgia. She attended the St James AME Church in Miami, Florida.

Services were held Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 10AM in the Sanctuary of St. James AME Church in Miami, Florida.
