Mr. Reder was born January 26, 1857 at Havelberg, Brandenberg, Germany where he learned the trade of the blacksmith from his father who was also a blacksmith. Upon coming to the United States fifty-four years ago, he first made his home and place of business in Milwaukee. In 1884 he was united in marriage to Miss Agnes Wiese of which union one daughter, Mrs William Schlei survives. Not long was the family united for the wife passed away during the early years of the marriage In the year of 1890 Augusta Bigalke became his bride and to this union four children are now living.
Mr. Reder then took up his residence and business at Elm Gro ve for eight years and later in the town of Menomonee where the family has lived for thirty-five years. Mr. Reder was well known in the community in which he lived, having been the blacksmith for most of the farmers for miles around
Those surviving are his wife, Augusta, four daughters, Mrs. Erna Schlie, town of Menomonee; Mrs. Anna Garms, Milwaukee; Mrs. Mathilda Gisal, Lannon; Mrs. Clara Strube, Lannon; one son, Richard, Milwaukee and twenty-two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 29th at 2:30 p.m. at the home with the Rev. H A. Crusius officiating. Burial was in the Union Cemetery, town of Menomonee
