Van Vleet, Hattie Belle Archibald -
Hattie Belle Archibald, daughter of George and Eliza Archibald, was born Jan. 19, 1877 near Moulton, Iowa, and passed away June 14, 1954 at the Lenox Rest Home, at the age of 77.

While a small child both parents passed away. At that time she went to make her home with her aunt in Creston. After completing high school she taught in the rural schools near Lenox.

As a young woman she made her confession of Christ and worked faithfully in the church as long as her health permitted. At the time of her death she was a member of the Christian Church of Lenox.

On July 1, 1903, she was united in marriage to Henry Van Vleet. A home was established on a farm east of Lenox. To this union was born one daughter, Martha Ellen, who passed away in August, 1933.

The family moved to a farm near Orient in 1918 where they resided until the death of her husband in July 1940. At that time she moved again to Lenox where she made her home until because of failing health she entered the Lenox Rest Home where she has been cared for the past four years.

She was a home-loving person, especially kind and patient in her care for her husband, and daughter in the long illnesses that preceded their deaths. She was a good neighbor to those of her community. Besides the daughter and husband she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, William Archibald of Moulton and Bert Archibald of Lenox.

She is survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins as well as well as friend and neighbors.

Funeral services were held Wednesday from Bender Funeral Home, conducted by Rev Cecil Simonton. Burial at Orient.
