Alva Ivan Short of near Willow Hill died suddenly at 9 pm Saturday at his home following a heart attack. Mr. Short was 66 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Tuesday at the Shiloh church with Rev. Millard Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Mound cemetery with the Reese service in charge.
Mr. Short was born Feb. 17, 1892, in Willow Hill township, a son of Jacob and Mary Ellen (Gaines) Short. He married Martha Mae McKinny May 15, 1915, and she survives. Mr. Short had farmed in Willow Hill township nearly all his life.
Surviving in addition to the wife are six sons, Ronald at home, Wayne of Clinton, Kenneth and Robert of Joliet, William of Manhattan, IL and Estelle of Bloomfield, IN; three daughters, Mrs. Violet Postlewait of Willow Hill, Mrs. Nellie Miller of Yale and Mrs. Maxine Tucker of Decatur; 25 grandchildren; and a brother, Perry Short of Newton.
