Gary was born August 31, 1955 in Kiowa Kansas to the late Wilbur Donald (Don) Colson and Elsie Irene (Sullivan) Colson. He attended school in Anthony KS, Tonkawa, OK and graduated from Newkirk High School, Newkirk, OK.
After graduation he worked at the Arkansas City Packing Plant, Conoco Inc, and the United States Post Office retiring as Postmaster of the Blackwell office.
He is preceded in death by his son, Bradley Duane, his father, Don, and other family members / friends.
He is survived by his wife, Lynnette, stepchildren Ryan and Gabrielle (Gabby), of Ponca City, OK, and granddaughter Hallie Colson and wife, Malia, of Blackwell, OK, his mother, Elsie Colson, of Newkirk, OK, his sister, Judy Sattre and her husband, Chris, of Ponca City, OK, sister, Patricia Christensen and her husband, Wes, of Bartlesville, OK, and twin brother, Larry Colson and his wife, Linnae, of Newkirk, OK, along with numerous nieces / nephews.
Gary enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and gardening.
