Services: Services will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bradley, IL. Rev. Anthony Nugent will officiate.
Visitation: Visitation will be Friday, November 30, 2007 from 3-8 p.m. at the Bradley Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Home.
Clarence was born on May 9, 1924 in Kankakee, IL. to Mary Viano and Millard Calvert. He served in the Air Force, European Theatre. He was an engineer for the railroad for 35 years retiring in 1983. He married his first wife, Charlene Larkin who died on October 29, 1985. He then married Mary Gleason Stam on September 19, 1987 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Clarence received the European Theatre Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, was a member of the Bradley American Legion, The Vintage Squadron Army Air Force, 100 Bomb Group, received the Air Medal, 6 Oak Leaf Clusters, Distinguished Flying Cross, and flew 35 bombing missions as a belly gunner in World War II on the All American Girl. He was an avid card player, especially euchre and pinnocle, enjoyed traveling, especially on trips to Las Vegas. He also loved to bowl.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Mary of Bradley, IL., two sons and two daughters-in-law, Jerald & Nancy Calvert of Rochester, IL., and Patrick & Mary Calvert of Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania, two daughters and two sons-in-law, Ruth & Mark Smith of Kankakee, IL., and Debra & Tom Longtin of Bradley, IL., two sisters, Crystal Dupuis of Bourbonnais, IL., and Maxine Rinquist of Denver, CO., stepchildren, Sherrie & Donald Duncan of Grensburg, IN., Jerry Stam of Bradley, IL., Stanley Jr. & Shirley Stam of Bourbonnais, IL., Jeanette Krutsinger of Ashkum, IL., JoEllen & Rick Riley of Bradley, IL., Gregory & Barbara Stam of Schaumberg, IL., Dr. Douglas & Dolores Stam of Bourbonnais, IL., thirty-one grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Charlene, brothers, Ronald, Millard Jr., Robert Calvert and one sister, Dorothy Guertin-Bergera.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph Grade School, masses and F-Troop.
