Catherine Mio Anderson was aboard a private airplane which tragically crashed on takeoff at Palwaukee Municipal Airport outside Chicago, resulting in the deaths of all four people aboard the Gulfstream IV that was enroute to California: Ms. Anderson, the cabin attendant, the two pilots, Martin Larry Koppie and Robert Hampton "Hamp" Whitener, and the sole passenger, Arthur F. Quern, III, the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board for Aon Risk Management, Inc.

She worked on private flights during her days off, and for this flight she was employed by Executive Jet, whose services were secured by Aon Aviation. Ms. Anderson was a flight attendant for American Airlines.

A graduate of Wheeling High School, Catherine had married Craig S Anderson, only 26 days before the crash. The couple had just returned from their honeymoon when Catherine was killed. In addition to her spouse, she was survived by her parents, Vito J Mio and Jo Lou Mio (nee Holder).

In addition to Catherine Or Cathy Mio-Anderson, she has been identified as Catherine N Anderson, Catherine N Mio, and Katherine N Mio, and had a residence in Prospect Heights, Illinois at the time of the accident.
