Claude Erastus was born in Gibson County, Indiana on July 18, 1890 to John Calib and Mary Elizabeth (Coleman) Green. He and his family lived in Augusta Village, Lockhart, Pike County, Indiana until after 1900. Between 1900 and 1910 the Green family moved to a farm in Center Twp. on the out skirts of Francisco in Gibson County, Indiana. On this farm Claude, grew into a slender young man of med. build, 5'8", 130 lbs with light grey eyes and light brown hair. He helped his father farm the land until joining the Army in 1917. After Claude served his country he returned to his parent's home and worked on the farm in Barton Twp. until 1922. Claudes brother's and sister's were: Walter Freeman - 1889 – 1949, Maude Frances - 1890 – 1922 – (Twin to Claude), Ona E. Green - 1891 – 1986, Cumi Olive - 1895 – 1952, and Ota C. - 1899 – 1976

In 1922 Claude Green and Celia Newkirk were united in holy matrimony. To that union were born 16 children.

The family lived in a home on Carithers Road, in Patoka, Gibson County, Indiana until 1930. They then moved to Somerville, Barton Township where they remained. Claude was a farm laborer as well as a preacher at churches in the nearby area. He took his family to church each Sunday and taught them to know and love God. He and Celia put out large gardens each year.

On Friday, July 6, 1962, at the age of 71, Claude passed away at his home in Somerville. Services will be at the Corn Mortuary in Oakland City with burial in the Somerville Cemetery. Friends may visit after 1 pm today.
