Mrs. Mary Louise Fowler Mitchell, age 85, of 189 Sunset Dr., Pacolet, widow of Douglas Mark Mitchell, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022, at her home.
Mrs. Mitchell was born in Spartanburg, August 8, 1936, a daughter of the late John Callie Fowler and Bessie Golden Holland Fowler. She was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and retired as Head Cashier from Community Cash in Pacolet. Mrs. Mitchell was a faithful member of Morning Star Baptist Church where she was a member of the Adult Ladies Sunday school class, Young at Heart, and the Good News Club. She was also a VBS worker and had taught children's Sunday school. Mrs. Mitchell made each new member of the church a quilt and was a great encourager by sending out cards and notes.
Surviving are four daughters, Patty Guy and husband Bobby of Boiling Springs, Pam Henderson of Pacolet, Kathy Mills of Gaffney and Karen Smith and husband Roddy of Pauline; a sister, Edna F. Bell of Spartanburg; a brother-in-law, Frank Mitchell of Pacolet; five grandchildren, Marc Guy of Boiling Springs, Amy Witherspoon and husband Brett of Pacolet, Molly Best and husband Jason of Gaffney, Michael Moore and wife Danielle of Virginia and Callie Lowery and husband Josh of Pauline; great-grandchildren are, Blake Best and wife Makayla, Austin Guy, Jacob Best, Miranda Guy, Brock Gilliam, Miles Witherspoon, Ella Moore and Tucker Lowery and one great-great grandson, Lennox Best. Mrs. Mitchell was predeceased by a brother, John Thomas Fowler of Indiana.
The family would like to say a special Thank You to Agape Hospice, nurse Ann, CNA Jamie for their care of Mrs. Mitchell during her illness.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Morning Star Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Bryan Inman and Rev. Keith Phillips. Burial will follow at Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 until 1:00 PM Wednesday at the church prior to the service.
Active pallbearers will be Roddy Smith, Marc Guy, Brett Witherspoon, Jason Best, Blake Best, Jacob Best, Miles Witherspoon and Josh Lowery.
Memorial may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The family will be at the home, 189 Sunset Dr., Pacolet.
