Clay V. Thomas, well known resident of Pleasant Hill, died rather unexpectedly Friday Feb. 27, 1953 with a heart attack in St. John's Hospital in Springfield where he had been a patient for some time. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Mar 1, 1953 at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Burial was in Crescent Heights cemetery. Mr. Thomas was 67 years of age. He had operated the Standard Oil station in Pleasant Hill for thirty years and was held in high regard by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, who was formerly Grace Wheeler, one daughter Vernon at home, and one son Eugene, who lives at Lebanon, Ind. He had two grandchildren. Also three brothers and two sisters, Clyde, Cal, Harry and Edith Thomas, and Mrs. Erma Green, all of Pleasant Hill community.
