Littleton, IL - Glenn Baxter, 94, of Littleton and Brooklyn passed away at 11:10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.

Glenn was born on October 3, 1913 in Brooklyn, IL, the son of the late William "Bell" and Ida (Moore) Baxter.

Glenn was a graduate of Rushville High School and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a farmer and a coal miner and owned Baxter Motor Sales. He was one of the first in the United State to import and sell the Volkswagen "bug".

After attaining a geology certification Glenn spent many years making prospecting trips to Colorado, Idaho and Saskatchewan, Canada. In Canada, he was involved with oil shale. In 1983 Glenn's company, North Star Oil and Mineral Exploration found oil near Brooklyn.

Surviving are two cousins, Esther Chockley and Harold Bly.

Graveside services will be at the Littleton Cemetery, with military rites. There will be no visitation.
