Mrs. Sallie Maphis, Widow of the late David Maphis, died suddenly at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Dr. J. H. Smoot, in Woodstock, on Thursday evening, 13th inst. She was about re-thing, being in about her usual health, when she suddenly sank down, saying "I am so weak." Dr. Smoot was called from an adjoining room, but she expired immediately after he had reached her. She was 79 years of age. She has been a consistent member of the German Baptist Church for number of years. Two daughters, Mrs. Frank Sibert and Mrs. J. H. Smoot, survive her. She was an enexemplary woman, kind to all. She had been suffering for some time with heart disease, and as she expressed it,"She was only waiting for the call."
