Martin F. Gates, age 89, of Two Rivers passed away Monday, January 3, 2022 at Harbor View Assisted Living, Manitowoc.

Martin was born November 20, 1932 in Kaukauna. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the Class of 1950. Martin served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951 until 1954 in the Korean War. On June 18, 1955 he was united in marriage to Margaret Ann Helmer.

Martin was a machine operator (as well as Union Treasurer for many years) for Hamilton Industries, Two Rivers for 43 years before retiring.

Martin enjoyed hunting, fishing, dart ball, miniature bowling, friends, and most of all spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife: Margaret Gates, Manitowoc; his children: Michael (Brenda) Gates, Hertford, NC; Mary (Mike) Mueller, Manitowoc; Brian (Tamara) Gates, Brillion; Wanda (Armando Jr) Castro, Two Rivers. Grandchildren: Kalynn Schultz, Eric Gates (fiancé Amber), Jessie Gates, Raeann Gates. Great grandchildren: Savannah, Kaydam, Kameron, Kolten, Ezra, and Jackson. One brother: Clarence Gates, Manitowoc; as well as nieces, other relatives and friends. Martin was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Ethel Gates, foster parents Norman & Mabel Gustaveson, one brother and sister-in-law John and Dorothy Gates and a sister-in-law Geraldine Gates, and nephew Greg Gates.

Cremation has taken place at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc and a Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the Klein & Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Dave Pleier with inurnment of his cremated remains to take place at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, town of Kossuth, following the service. Full Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home following the service by the VFW Post #1248 and the American Legion Post #165, both of Two Rivers.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 12 noon until the time of services at 1:00 p.m.
