Richard Daniel Abdo went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 6, 2022, at the home of his devoted son, Daniel, and loving daughter-in-law, Nikki.

Richard was born on January 24, 1936, in Toledo, Ohio, to George and Edna Abdo. He lived a wildly crazy life until he accepted the gift of eternal security through the biblical teaching of his mentor and lifelong friend, Wes Debord. Due to a desire to know more about God, he attended and graduated from Toledo Bible College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theological Course of Study and Training while working a full-time job at Dana Corporation and rearing four young children. He would put this education to use for the rest of his life.

Richard invested his time, money, energy and love for those who struggled in life and felt as if they had no hope. He volunteered with Reformers Unanimous, Wood County Juvenile Jail, Cherry Street Mission, Transport for Christ, and many ministries associated with his 40+ year membership at Lewis Avenue Baptist Church in Temperance, Michigan. Truly, his heart was for those less fortunate and in need of a Savior!

Richard provided great entertainment for those who were closest to him through his subtle humor and crazy facial expressions. He had nicknames for everyone and didn't hesitate to let one know his thoughts on clothing, hair style, or weight. He was an avid reader of all things non-fiction and rarely seen without a book in one hand and coffee cup in the other. His passion after his wife died became a mean little dog, Jake, with whom all share a love-hate relationship.

The exemplary love he had for his wife of 52 years carried over into absolute loyalty to his 4 children and adoration for his 21 grandchildren. Richard will be deeply missed by all who knew him intimately because he reached beyond the surface and into the soul.

Richard is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce; his parents, George and Edna; his sister, Eleanor; and precious great grandson, Andrew.

He is survived by his four children: George (Lawana) Abdo of McClure, OH, Daniel (Nikki) Abdo of Northwood, OH, Amy (Matthew) Fravor of Dallas, NC, and Beth (Greg) Wilt of Spokane, WA; grandchildren: Danny (Charlotte), Ricky, Miah, Lexi, Kailie, Logan, Alyssa, Gracie, Autumn (Ben), Gregory (Shay), Aimee Lynn (Russel), Noah, Ally, and Ben; great grandchildren: Nathaniel, Zoe, Ella, Cole, Lydia, and Olivia; sister: Shirley; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

The receiving of family and friends will be from 2pm until 8pm at Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 7438 Airport Hwy, Holland, OH, on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. The funeral will be at 11am on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Lewis Avenue Baptist Church, 6320, Temperance, MI. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Reformers Unanimous at https://www.lewisavenuebaptist.org/giving.
