Name was on List of "Known" reinterments in 1894 from the Métis Old Burying Grounds on J. I. Corbly's ranch to Calvary Cemetery, Lewistown, Montana. No birth date, death date, or family names.
Her name was entered as "Mrs. Gabriel Dumont" on list of "Known" reinterments-
her name was entered as "Madeleine Wilkie Dumont" on 2023 Metis Monument.
===================================================================
Bio: Mrs. Gabriel Dumont was Mrs. Madeleine (Wilkie) Dumont; she was described as intelligent and kind. Her home was in Canada but after the North-West Rebellion of 1885(1885 Northwest Resistance)- her home was looted and burned. One source states that she remained to help care for her father-in-law and left Canada after his death. Another source states that the Dumonts "scattered to the four winds". There are few records that tell of what severe hardships she endured after the Rebellion, the Metis that remained in Canada suffered. When and how she crossed the border from Canada to Montana, and those who may have helped her is unknown. Madeleine had a network of family, extended family, friends, and those sympathetic to the Rebellion. She was one of the Métis.
====================================================================

- there are variations for her Birth Year , Death Year, and Marriage Year- I'm using 1840 as her Birth Year, and 1885 as her Death Year, and 1857 as Marriage Year to Gabriel ;
- she was the daughter of Jean-Baptiste Wilkie and Amable Elise (Azure) Wilkie ;
and sister to Judith (Wilkie) Berger;
- Madeleine married Gabriel Dumont on Sept.7, 1857 (date from Church Records);

- Madeleine and Gabriel had at least one biological child, a daughter, Marie Dumont, born in "Spring of 1858" ;

- one source says Gabriel found out about Madeleine's Death durning the time he was trying to raise a army in the U.S. to rescue Louis Riel. Louis Riel was arrested May 15, 1885 and was hung on Nov.16, 1885;
- Gabriel Dumont, Madeleine's spouse, is buried in Saskatchewan, Canada;
