Clara Louise Conkey Iams, 88, of Sycamore, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at 3:02 p.m. at Washington Hospital.

Born on February 25, 1933, in Waynesburg, the daughter of the late Harl and Pearle Breese Conkey.

Clara worked as a cook for Greene County Memorial Hospital until retiring in 1995. She attended the First Christian Church in Waynesburg.

Her hobbies included gardening, quilting, crocheting and reading. Her family remembers her as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

On November 19, 1952, Clara married James "Jim" Iams, Jr., and they remained together for 68 years until his passing on October 1, 2021.

Together they had four children, Linda Sue (Harold) Moore, of Washington, N.C., Kathy (Tom) Chess, of Graysville, Patty (John Reed) Iams, of Edinboro, and John R. (Hollie) Iams, of Sycamore.

In addition to her children, she is survived by 13 grandchildren, Melissa (Josh) Gaso, of Graysville, Jason (Sherry) Moore, of Bath, N.C., Jessica Moore, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Amber Grim, of Wind Ridge, Jamie Grim, of Graysville, Allen Chess, of Sycamore, Terry Chess, of Graysville, Jeremy (Mindy) Policz, of Washington, Andrea (Wilson) Boozer, of Cambridge Springs, Ethan and Nathan Iams, both of Sycamore, Eric Hickman, of Monessen and Dylan Hickman, of North Huntington; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Clara also leaves behind four sisters, Fern Knight, of Washington, Betty Scherich, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Sue Clutter, of Sycamore, and Naoma Lapping, of Sycamore.

She was preceded in death by brother, Donald Laverne; and sister, Katherine Conkey.

Friends and family will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC., 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville. 724-499-5181.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 13, 2022, in the funeral home, with Pastor Scott Chambers, officiating. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery, Center, Township.
