Helen Marie (Kuhn) Brennan, age 89, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2022 in her home at Felician Village in Manitowoc.

Helen was born on Nov. 1, 1932 in Chicago, IL and was the eldest daughter of the late Helen (Smith) Kuhn and John Francis Kuhn. She graduated from the Academy of the Sacred Heart High School in Chicago in 1950 and attended Barat College and Ripon College where she met her husband of 62 years, William "Bill" F. Brennan.

Helen was a long-time member of the Pinecrest Historical Village, Manitowoc Historical Society and 20 Gardeners. She was a voracious reader and member of the Manitowoc Public Library. Helen was also a founding member of the YMCA and remained a member for over 50 years where she especially enjoyed aqua aerobics and the pool. She volunteered her time at the former Sacred Heart Parish and served on the Sacred Heart School Board.

Helen and Bill were married at the former Holy Innocents Catholic Church on Sept. 17, 1955. Helen greatly enjoyed being a military spouse for 30+ years, including living in Pakistan for several years in the early 1960s. Helen is proceeded in death by Bill, her parents, and brother John Kuhn. She was a loving mother to Farrell, Timothy (Traci), Casey (Jennifer), Bridget (Lissa) and Tara (Erik). Helen is also survived by her brother Stephen Kuhn, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Helen loved classical ballet, Baroque music, reading, travel, needlework, middle eastern history, archeology and researching family history. In retirement Helen and Bill traveled the world extensively to many countries including England, Scotland, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Turkey, France and Germany.

Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel with burial of Helen's cremated remains to be held at Evergreen Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
