C. W. Binns Rites Thursday; Body Hidden by Sister

Services for Claire W. Binns will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Newell-Leonard Funeral Home. The Rev. Dr. J. Edward Hamilton will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Binns, 76, of 178 Bishop Ave. was found dead at his home Monday night after neighbors reported they had not seen him for several days. Welfare authorities and police were notified last Saturday by concerned neighbors. Several visits to the home were ignored or answered by a woman later identified as Miss Maude Binns, 74, sister of the dead man, who told investigators to go away and not bother her. Police, certain Monday that something was wrong, removed hinges from a back door to gain entry and found the body. The coroner said that death was due to natural causes. Miss Binns was examined by a physician but refused hospitalization. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., Mr. Binns was a resident of this city 60 years. He was a member of Elmwood Presbyterian Church. There are no other survivors other than his sister. Friends may call at the funeral home, 2503 S. Salina St., from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.
