US Congressman. He attended Jacksonville Institute and Dayton Union Academy and became a schoolteacher. In 1860 he moved to Punxsutawney and studied law while teaching. In 1861 White enlisted for the Civil War as a Private in Company I, Eighth Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment. After his 1862 discharge he was admitted to the bar and began practicing law in Punxsutawney. He later moved to Brookville and was elected Jefferson County District Attorney in 1867 and 1870, serving for six years. In 1884 White was elected to the US House of Representatives as a Republican and served one term, 1885 to 1887. He did not run for reelection in 1886 and returned to his law practice, also serving as a Rose Township Justice of the Peace.
