Miss Bessie Adams, 76, retired grade school teacher, died Sunday evening in the Mercer County Hospital, where she had been a patient since Wednesday. She incurred injuries in a fall at her home last week. Funeral services were held today at the Davis Funeral Home at Aledo, and burial was in the Aledo Cemetery.
She was born in Duncan Township, Mercer County, Dec. 24, 1876, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Adams.
She started teaching in 1897 and taught until 1944, most of the time in Aledo. She also taught for a time at Alpha. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two sisters Mrs. Emma Norris of Muskogee, Okla., and Miss Ada Adams of Aledo; and three brothers, Howard of East Moline, Logan of Moline, and Steve of Hobart, Ind.
