Billye Marie Dixon Boyd-Smith, a lifelong resident of the Lewisville / Flower Mound area, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, January 15, 2022, one week before her 94th birthday. Billye was born on January 22, 1928 in a farmhouse on Waketon Rd in Flower Mound. She grew up on the Dixon family farm on a dirt road that was later named after her family, Dixon Lane, also in Flower Mound. She graduated from Lewisville High School in 1945. She married James Howard (Jim) Boyd on October 7, 1949 and together they had 3 sons (Mark, Matthew, and Monte). After Jim's passing on December 17, 1968 she raised her 3 sons alone, and after her youngest son left home she went to work as a teachers aid at Central Elementary, working with special needs children. Upon her retirement from LISD, Billye Marie married a former LHS classmate Elmer Rawlings Smith on November 11, 1989 and they enjoyed their retirement years together until Elmer's passing on December 10, 2015. She remained in her life long home in Old Town Lewisville until June of 2021 when the ravages of time and dementia forced her to leave.

Billye - Mom - Meemaa - was a fiercely independent and determined woman even into her golden years. Both family and friends would certainly agree that Billye Marie was one-of-a-kind. She was utterly selfless, loving, funny, caring, honest, hard working, and a supremely supportive mother to her three boys, no matter how badly they misbehaved. She dedicated her entire life to her boys and their families. She loved attending her boys and grandchildren's athletic games as well as watching the Texas Ranger baseball games on TV. She grew up on a farm during the Great Depression and never lost her love for the farm life of growing flowers and vegetables and raising farm animals. She was a country girl through and through, and loved bargain shopping in her later years. Billye had a beautiful smile, dimples you couldn't overlook, and a unique way of connecting with people, while making sure to tell them about raising her 3 boys alone after their dad died.

Billye was preceded in death by her parents Idus Bryan Dixon and Roxie Robertson Dixon who came from Alabama in the late 1800's and settled on Robertson family land that was originally purchased from the state of Texas in 1858.

She was also preceded in death by her 4 siblings, Mable Hoskins, Clyde Dixon, Lorene Tillery, and Olin Dixon.

Billy is survived by her 3 sons and their families.
