Evelyn M. Kelley, 88, of Cedar Rapids (formerly of Manchester, Toddville and Vinton) passed away at her residence in Cedar Rapids, Tuesday, September 4, 2007, following an extended illness. She was born February 22, 1919, in Coffins Grove Township, rural Delaware County, IA, to Lloyd and Marguerite (Shew) McFarland. Evelyn attended school at Dundee.
She was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Kelley on December 9, 1935, in Galena, IL. Five children were born to this union. Following their marriage, Kenneth and Evelyn resided in Manchester area where she was employed at the box factory and the tomato canning factory. Later, they moved to Toddville, where they lived until Kenneth entered a nursing home in Dysart. Evelyn lived in Vinton until Kenneth died on May 14, 1997. For the past ten years, she has resided in Cedar Rapids. Evelyn was a Christian lady and lived a Godly life.
Survivors include her children, Nadine (Thursby) Leise, Vinton, Harry (Judy) Kelley, Panama City, FL, Patricia Pyle, Palo; a foster son, Randy (Donna) Cady, Cedar Rapids; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two infant sons; one brother, Howard McFarland and two sisters, Marvel Blankenship and Beatrice Capehart.
