Curtis Tobin Sr. of Chittenango, passed away Sunday December 12, 2021, at his home He was 77. Curtis was born February 21st, 1944 in Syracuse. He graduated from Chittenango High School and Mohawk Valley Community College (Mechanical Engineering). After college, he worked for Carrier for 30+ years as a Draftsman/Designer. He was awarded many patents for his designs while there. In 1973, he purchased "Tobin's Lanes" in Chittenango, which they owned and operated until 1979. After Carrier, he worked for NCR till retirement. He was a lifelong resident of Chittenango. Member of Sullivan Lodge #148 and had been raised to become a Ziyara Shriner. He was a former director and sat on the board of the L. Frank Baum (OZ) Museum for many years. In 1964, he married Dixie Lee Tobin (Kimball) and raised four children. He is predeceased by his wife, Dixie, and his parents, Harold and Ellen Tobin, of Chittenango. Surviving is a son, Curtis Tobin, Jr. and Vicky (Schmidtka) (Chittenango); three daughters, Tammie (Tobin) Knasick and Scott (Bridgeport), Alicia (Tobin) Lillie and Robert (Chittenango), and Katie (Tobin) Wickes (Canastota). He also has 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, his sister-in-law, Pam (Kimball) Draper and Morris (Covington, GA) and Robert Kimball and Betsy (Chittenango). Calling Hours will be from 5 to 7pm on Friday, Dec. 17th, at the G.F. Zimmer Funeral Home, 702 Legion Drive, Chittenango. Private Internment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Chittenango, NY. Following the Calling Hours there will be a eulogy with Jennifer Courtwright. All attendees are required to wear a mask.
