He was a proud Navy Veteran of World War II. He spent his professional career as a Quality Engineer at Pratt and Whitney, retiring after 38 years of faithful service. He was a member of the VFW Post 2083 for many years.
He is survived by his two children, son Gary G. Cogswell and his wife Joanne of Rock Hill, SC, daughter Lauren Lichatz and her husband Michael of Vernon; five grandchildren, Paul Cogswell, Julie Lineberry and her husband John, Amy Page and her husband Michael, Jodie Lichatz, and Tracy Ciccone; and five great grandchildren, Matthew Cogswell, Austin Duffy, Emily, Ashley, and Michalya Page; and two nieces, Diane Phillips and Diane Mercier, and a nephew Richard Kulmacz. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by three brothers, and a great granddaughter, Miranda Cogswell.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford with a period of visitation one hour prior (10-11) to the service. Burial with full military honors will be in Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Avenue, P.O.
