This grave was originally unmarked in the Kitzmiller Cemetery along Elk River a few miles above Sutton. All but two of the 121 graves in the cemetery (No 2) were relocated by the US Army Corps of Engineers in 1959/60 to the brand new Braxton County Memorial Cemetery prior to the completion of the Sutton Dam. The original site was submerged in the backwaters of the dam. The marker installed by the Corps could not be found.
