Art was born in Charlotte, June 28, 1949 to Myrtice Lenora Cooper Stephenson and Ernest Hiram Stephenson. He grew up in Charlotte attending Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. He was preceeded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Earl Stephenson and a nephew, Robert Earl Stephenson, Jr.
He is survived by former wife and
friend, Beverly Dulin Stephenson, son, Matthew C. Stephenson and wife, Misti, daughter, Sherry Stephenson Gustafson and husband, Bruce. He is also survived by grandchildren, Trinity, Emma, Kaylee, Lilly, Aaron, Dalton, Maggie.
He was greatly loved by his family and many friends. He was a Marine during the Vietnam War Era. Many loved to hear the stories of his youth, as he was a wonderful story teller. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends, until they meet again.
