Edith C. Eckenrode, 88, John Paul II Manor, Cresson, died Thursday at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.

She was born in Cresson, daughter of the late Joel and Alice (McMasters) Glass. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, who died May 1, 1987; and several brothers and sisters.

Survived by children: Connie Stransky of Cresson, Mary Lee Duclo of Duncansville and Betty Ann and Charles, both of Cresson; grandchildren: Robert, Richard, Michael, Jennifer, David and Heather; great-grandchildren: Catharine, Patrick, Hannah and Holden; sister, Dorothy Smith of Milwaukee, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She had worked as a waitress at the Hoffman Hotel, Cresson, and Blairmont Country Club, Hollidaysburg. She was a foster grandparent at the Ebensburg Center for many years. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Cresson.

Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Charles M. Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Aloysius Church, Cresson, by the Very Rev. John D. Byrnes. Committal at church cemetery.
