ACOCKS. - The Funeral of the late W. G. ACOCKS M B. E. will leave St. Michael's Church. Vaucluse. THIS 'Monday MORNING, after service commencing at 10 o'clock, for Northern Suburbs Crematorium.

The older residents will be pleased to see the name of William George Acocks amongst the list of recipients of the King's birthday honours. In the early days of the Hay Crown Lands office Mr. Acocks was Crown land agent, :and while he was here he took a leading part in all physical sports, being himself a good cricketer, footballer, and oarsman. He was also very efficient in organising the young men of the town into athletic clubs, amid in calcuting the value of team work. After leaving Hay, Mr. Acocks filled, many important positions in the public service, winding up as deputy 'of the Public Trustee. He is now living in retirement. For years he has been known throughout the State, as a leading light of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and it is probably because of his good offices and long service in that capacity that his name has been submitted to the King for some mark of Royal favour. Mr. Acocks has been made a M.B.E.
