Elmer J. Colwell. 86, with the Western Union Telegraph Co. here for 42 years, died yesterday in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Mr. Colwell, formerly of Sheraden, retired 15 years ago and moved to Florida. He was district supervisor of outside construction for Western Union, having come here from Parkers Landing, where he first worked for the company.

He was a member of the Sheraden Presbyterian Church; Parker Lodge 521. F. & A.M., of which he was the first past master; Eden Chapter 259, Clarion, and Franklin Commandery 44, Knights Templars.

Husband of the late Mrs. Ida L. Colwell, he is survived by two sons, Turney E., of Bellevue, and L. R. Colwell, of Walban, Mass.; two sisters. Mrs. J. E. Slaugenhaupt of Detroit, and Mrs. Myrtle Dietrick, of Stamford, Conn.; a brother, Floyd S. Colwell, of Bedford; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the McDonald Funeral Home, 529 California Ave., Avalon, after 8 p. m. tomorrow. Services will be at 8 p. m. Tuesday with burial the following day at Parker Cemetery in Parker.
