Thomas Michael Blackburn, the son of Ray and Barbara (Viren) Blackburn, was born on July 25, 1964 in Holdrege, Nebraska. He passed away on February 1, 2022 at his residence in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 57 years, 6 months, 7 days.
Tom attended school in Holdrege and was a Holdrege High School graduate. He continued his education at University of Nebraska at Kearney and Lincoln earning his bachelor degree.
He was united in marriage to Norma Jean Nuss on August 17, 1985 at Zion Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with 2 children. He taught Industrial Arts at Superior High School from 1989-2018. He coached wrestling and cross country. He was a class sponsor for several classes throughout his teaching career. He also was the computer coordinator.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and woodworking. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends and was always known as a jokester. He was a very proud parent and followed his children through all their activities.
Tom was a member of the Nebraska Education Association, SYAA, Eagles, Elks and Red Caps.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Barbara; wife Norma on July 10, 2017; and his brother William.
Survivors include his son Raile Matthew (Kaiti) Blackburn and daughter Sierra Nicole Blackburn all of Hays, Kansas; brother, Captain Dan (Jillian) Blackburn of Burlington NJ; sisters-in-law Barbara (Gus) Griess of Sutton, Nebraska and Chris Johnson of Columbus, NE; and brother-in-law Mel Nuss of Phoenix, AZ; other relatives and a host of friends.
