Frederick "Fred" Ayres, 73, passed away peacefully on Tues., Feb. 1, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born on June 24, 1948 in Fremont to the late William "Baldy" and Maribelle (Scherf) Ayres.
Fred graduated from Fremont Ross in 1966 and went on to attend the Elkhart Institute of Technology in Elkhart, Indiana. For many years until retirement, he worked as a Dental Technician and Manager at DSG Dresch Dental Lab in Sylvania. On Aug. 6, 2004, he married Beth M. Fowler in the back yard of their Millbury home.
Fred was a proud owner of a vintage Corvette. He liked to take day trips with his wife frequenting estate sales and taking county drives where they would actively look for Bald Eagles and Deer, often ending their excursions with a donut or ice cream. To Fred, family was the most important thing to him. He was an active grandpa attending all of his grandchildren's events.
Surviving Fred is his wife, three children, a step-daughter, three grandchildren, a step-grandson, his mother-in-law, five siblings, two brothers-in-law, along with many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Merry Jane (James) Polter; father-in-law, Melvin Cole; and sister-in-law, Judy (George) Evanoff.
Visitation will be held on Fri., Feb. 11th from 5-7pm at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, Fremont. An additional hour of Visitation will be held on Sat., Feb. 12th from 11am-12pm at the funeral home. Services will begin at Noon with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Fremont.
