Betty J. Shepherd, 58, returned to her heavenly home on February 3, 2022, after a brief illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

Betty was born April 30, 1963, to James Earl and Bessie Mae (Dewiel) Mullins, Betty grew up in Chatfield and attended Buckeye Central Schools. She later met and married the love of her life, Isaac Shepherd, on July 26, 1980. They spent 41 wonderful years together. They shared the love of children April and Bill Merriman of Upper Sandusky, Nathan Shepherd of Bloomville, Ryan and Jasmin Shepherd of New Washington, Leslie and Rusty Hawkins of Deleware. Later that love spread to grandchildren Jayce, Erin, Rylan, Devon, Luke, Rhonin, Ashton, and Charlotte.

Betty is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, brothers, Walt Mullins, James "Moe" Mullins, Stacy Mullins, Roger Shepherd, and Arvel Shepherd Jr., as well as sisters, Tiny Claytor, Evelyn Barnett, Ella Williams, Sally Winningham, Elsa Reed, and Alice Fletcher.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, beloved in-laws Arvel and Eva Shepherd. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Nancy Mullins, Sissy Mullins, Mable Buffington, and Velva Johnson; brothers, David Mullins, Abraham Shepherd, and Daniel Shepherd.

Betty was a lifelong homemaker, raising her children to be the wonderful people they are today. She loved living the farm life, growing her garden, and playing with her chickens and occasional pigs. She was a lover of all animals especially her dogs, Puggers, Lily, and Sassy. Her greatest joy in life was being called Mawmaw and Mammers. Betty was an amazing individual that will forever be loved and missed.
Visiting hours are at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral home February 10, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Services will follow visitation at 1 p.m. Burial to follow at Whetstone Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Association or Crawford County Humane Society.
