The daughter of the Rev. Oren B. and Nancy (St. Clair) Cheney, Caroline married Charles Herbert Swan, a Civil Engineer prior to 1871 when their first child Charles H. Jr. was born. They had three other sons, George L., born in 1873; Horace C., born in 1878; and Arthur E., born in 1880. Caroline was widowed with the sudden death of her husband in 1899.
Funeral services for Caroline were held at the Waterman Chapel on Washington St., Roxbury on January 11, 1921 with burial following at Forest Hills Cemetery.
