5043 Private A J Tudor, 2nd Battalion the Cheshire Regiment. He deployed with his battalion to South Africa for the Second Anglo Boer War, sailing on the Britannic about 7 Jan 1900, arriving about the 27 Jan 1900. Along with the 2nd South Wales Borderers, 1st East Lancashire, and 2nd North Staffordshire, they formed the 15th Brigade under Major General A G Wavell. He served in the Mounted Infantry. He was dangerously wounded near Wesselsrust on 20 Aug 1901. He died of his wounds the following day. He is also commemorated on the Cheshire Regiment Boer War memorial in Chester Cathedral, St Werburgh Street, Chester, England (see: https://www.warmemorialsonline.org.uk/memorial/239963/).
