The Uniontown Cicerone, February 14, 1919: "Died. Owen B. Mason, age 77. He was born in 1842 and moved to Bourbon county, Kansas as a small boy. He enlisted at age 19 in 10th Kansas Infantry in the Civil War. He had moved to Modesto, California with daughter and son-in-law Mr & Mrs Shannon Jones. He was survived by one brother, A. S. Mason of Rockford Valley (Bourbon county, KS) and by seven children: O. R. Mason of Kansas City; W. Sherman Mason of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado; H. B. and George Mason of Reymond, California; Grace Mason and Mrs. Shannon Jones of Modesto, California; and Mabel Perry of San Jose, California."
