He was born Sept. 26, 1963, in Brownsville, the son of Jerry Abbey, of Brownsville, and Lyna Smith Klimo, of Charleroi.
He was Baptist by faith and a member of the Masonic Lodge and American Legion Post No. 22, both in Charleroi.
A U.S. Army veteran, Scott earned a master's degree in criminal justice and was employed by TSA. He previously had been employed as a police officer in Holly Hill, Fla.
In addition to his mother and father, he is survived by his son, Cameron Joseph Abbey; two daughters, Kori Lea Abbey, of Charleroi, and Kirstin Jordan Abbey, of Winter Park, Fla.; two sisters, Kellie Espey, of Monessen, and Jerri Smith, of Orlando, Fla.; a step-sister, Roni Arnold, of Brownsville; and his girlfriend, Kris Wergen, of Charleroi.
He was preceded in death by his step-father, Joseph R. Klimo Jr.; and the mother of his children, Leasa Abbey.
Friends will be received in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 27, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Jeffrey Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Phillips Cemetery, California.
