Peter emigrated from England to Virginia in 1669, and then moved to the Bay Colony of Massachusetts about 1675. He fought in the battle against the Eastern Indians at Blackport (Scarborough), Maine, in which he was mistakenly listed among the dead.

Peter's first wife bore him a son, Richard, in Virginia.

Peter married his second wife, Sarah Guile/Gills, Nov 8, 1682 at Haverhill and they had 8 children which were all born in Haverhill,Essex Co.,MA. Colony.:

Peter served as a constable for Haverhill, and operated a ferry across the Merrimack River. The ferry fare was a penny for a man or woman and five pence for a horse. He was also a shoemaker, and at the age of 70 was still making shoes.

After Sarah died he married the widow Susannah (Davis) Hadley Nov 19, 1720 at Gloucester, Massachusetts.
