Rose C. Schane, 100, of Honey Brook, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 while under the loving care of her family.
She was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 20, 1921. Rose was the daughter of the late Hugh and Rose (Schick) MacPherson. She was the wife of Roy W. Schane, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage. She was a long-time member of Olivet United Methodist Church of Coatesville, PA.
In addition to her husband Roy, Rose is survived by three sons, Randall R. (Deborah) Schane of Telford, Ronald L (Robin) Schane of Terre Hill, and Robert W. (Victoria) Schane of Honey Brook and a daughter, Robin R. (Joseph) Gerress of West Chester, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Whether beneath the sunny skies of Clearwater, Florida or the sun-dappled canopy of trees at her home in Honey Brook, Pennsylvania, Rose's life was a celebration of joy. A long-time Philadelphia baseball fan, she loved spending winters at spring-training with her husband, Roy.
When spring rolled around, Rose would stock up on her favorite annual flowers to plant in her beautiful gardens. Weekly additions of new blooms were a parade of color outdoors as baseball games played on the TV inside and family visited for get-togethers.
Rose's home was the hub of the family, a place to celebrate birthdays and holidays. From egg hunts full of pastel ovals poking out from bushes and nestled within springy moss at the base of a tree, to birthday cake and pie, Rose was more than an entertainer. She was a matriarch, wrapping her family in traditions of love and faith. Rose cherished time spent with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, showing all whose lives she blessed that devotion to family, hope in Jesus, care for others, and a vibrant pursuit of joy are what keep us young.
From volunteering with Meals on Wheels to dining at Shady Maple Smorgasbord with her family, Rose never let age define what she could do. When loved ones remember Rose, they will think of sunshine and wood smoke and the candy dish on her porch. They'll remember music and how she loved to dance, kids running through the lawns, and a Christmas tree aglow in the living room window. They'll remember strawberries and bananas. They'll remember grace before dinner. They'll remember the sixty-six-year-long love story of a man and woman who couldn't have known what a pair of vows began all those years ago. It is never too late to dream and to live. And that is the legacy of Rose.
Services will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at 1 PM at The Labs Funeral Home, Inc, 141 Pequea Ave., Honey Brook, PA with Pastor Hun Ju Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Honey Brook United Methodist Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 12:30 PM until the time of the service.
